Cold Sassy Tree. It’s an older book, but I still love it.

You’re organizing a party. Which two authors, dead or alive, do you invite?

Lavyrle Spencer and Margaret Mitchell.

Which writers — working today do you admire most?

Nora Roberts and Robin Carr.

What moves you most in a work of literature?

Emotion. If an author touches an emotion—anger, tears, laughter—then I will feel like I have read a great book.

What kind of reader were you as a child? 

Eclectic, and still am. I will read anything from the back of the cereal box to Faulkner, and enjoy all of it.

What do you plan to read next?

Right now I’m trying to meet a deadline, so I don’t have time to read, but when I do, there’s a whole array of authors I want to read.
