By avoiding terms like ‘divorce,’ I hoped to create a narrative that helps children understand that families can thrive in many forms.”

Equally inspired by his daughters, his latest creation, Bones is Back, is a festive Halloween tale filled with wonder and playfulness. The idea stemmed from one October when Margaux and Mireille questioned why their Halloween skeleton didn’t move, like the Elf on the Shelf tradition. “We began moving the skeleton ourselves, creating a fun and imaginative family ritual—one that soon evolved into the character of Bones. Their excitement and enthusiasm shaped the story, and over time, we added playful elements like Bones watching the parents too and allowing children to interact with him throughout the day. The concept grew into a delightful Book & Toy Set, offering families a new holiday tradition rooted in connection rather than just costumes and candy.”
Marc has masterfully balanced his academic career with his creative pursuits. “It requires dedication and passion,” he explains. “I dedicate specific hours to my professional work, ensuring all academic responsibilities are fulfilled. My writing for children happens in my personal time, which doubles as a creative outlet and a meaningful way to bond with my daughters. The structured research methods I use in academia often complement my storytelling process, while the imaginative nature of writing children’s books enriches my academic work.”
