Omara Williams

Born in Santiago de Cuba during the height of the communist regime, Omara Williams grew up in an environment defined by political oppression and strict ideological control. Yet, in the midst of hardship, she found refuge in literature, science, and music—three passions that would shape her extraordinary life.

The daughter of a university professor, Omara showed early brilliance in academics and an insatiable curiosity about the world. Despite societal pressure and ideological scrutiny, she excelled in school and was accepted into one of Cuba’s most prestigious programmes: Nuclear Engineering. She later pursued postgraduate research in Nuclear Physics and Mathematical Modelling, collaborating with Eastern bloc scientists to develop software for Cuba’s first nuclear power plant.

However, when global political shifts disrupted academic funding, Omara’s scientific journey was abruptly redirected. It was during this uncertain time that fate intervened. A chance encounter with an English wildlife researcher on a Cuban roadside blossomed into a love story that would ultimately lead her to the United Kingdom.

Now based in Britain for over three decades, Omara transitioned from science to technology, becoming a respected software engineering manager with major companies like Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, PerkinElmer, and Linx Printing Technologies. Yet her early dream of writing never faded.

Driven by her enduring love for science and storytelling, Omara turned to writing—penning her debut novel, The Space Traveller’s Lover, a science-fiction romance that blends her scientific expertise with deep emotional themes. Writing in English—her second language—Omara embraced the challenge and crafted a story that resonates with readers around the world.

Today, she is not only an author but a passionate stargazer, chasing celestial events and solar eclipses across the globe. Through her writing, Omara Williams continues to explore the delicate balance between logic and emotion, science and imagination.
