Highlights From The Interview:

  • Megan’s personal journey with chronic illness and spiritual awakening inspired her dreamwork and mystical guidance.
  • Cats play a pivotal role in both her personal spiritual practice and her novels.
  • Her approach to dreamwork empowers women to harness their dreams for personal transformation.

How did your personal experience with chronic illnesses and spiritual awakening influence your approach to dream analysis and mystical guidance?

I believe that dreams are a spiritual dimension where we, as spirits having a human experience, regularly return. When I found myself suffering from multiple chronic illnesses, I realized that illness can often be dis-ease, a misalignment between our body, mind, and spirit. I knew that to truly regain my health, I had to do inner work, which led me to rediscovering dreamwork. It is my goal to serve as a guide, standing between the waking and dreaming selves, helping other women find their way back to this wisdom.

With your background in English Literature and pursuit of a PhD in Metaphysical Sciences, how do you bridge the academic and the mystical in your work?

My Witches of Maple Hollow trilogy bridges the gap between self-help and fiction. Quantum-encoded ascension tools for the modern-day seeker, the stories inspire while they entertain. Appearing as whimsical fairytales, these visionary novels are rooted in esoteric teachings and real-world celestial occurrences. I find storytelling to be a powerful transmission tool for delivering complex concepts such as the nature of reality, self as an illusion, our power as a creator, and our higher purpose.

Your profile mentions “magickal cats” and your book features a “talking cat dream guide.” What role do felines play in your personal spiritual practice and in your storytelling?

In 2014, I had a poignant dream about a talking cat named Wixby. He became the catalyst for the entire trilogy. In my waking life, I have shared my life with five of the eight cats who dwell in Maple Hollow. In fact, cats, being near and dear to my heart, are one of the major aspects of the story. My relationship with them has gotten me through my most difficult times.

Could you elaborate on what “dream empowerment” means to you and how women can begin to harness their dreams for personal transformation?

Some dreamwork methods impose outside meanings on a dreamer’s internal psyche. I feel this approach is disempowering. What I seek to do instead is empower women to appreciate and harness their dreams as transformational tools, their meaning being entirely personal and unique. It starts with dream appreciation, which is essentially recognizing that our dreams are important, significant, and do hold value in our life journey. Next, is learning a process to work with our dreams, a practice, much like meditation, where we begin to listen and record them. Once we have cultivated our dream recall, then we can begin to unearth the hidden messages they hold—leading us to profound realizations and opportunities for growth.

What inspired you to start the “Women’s Dream Enlightenment” podcast, and what do you hope listeners gain from it?

I started the podcast as a place for women to share their stories of spiritual awakening and dreams. By creating a platform to elevate other women’s experiences, it helps those going through it to not feel alone, and to find encouragement. Women share their struggles, lessons they learned, and skills they discovered, which they are now offering in service to others. We also have deep discussions about near death experiences, awareness of abilities beyond our five senses, intuition, the quantum realm, consciousness shifts, healing modalities, and more.

The world of Maple Hollow sounds incredibly rich. What was your process for creating such a detailed and mystical setting, particularly the concept of an “island of eternal autumn”?

Fall is my favorite season and Halloween, my favorite holiday. When I set out to create a fantastical world, it was naturally comprised of these two elements. Maple Hollow is an island where it is autumn year-round. With each book, I attempted to capture the beautiful but fleeting essence of the season, as both an emotional, as well sensory, experience. The island is also a vortex and holds much mystical lore—the perfect place for magickal self-discovery.

Hannah Skye’s journey involves unlocking her powers and understanding her family legacy. How much of your own journey of self-discovery is reflected in her character arc?

Hannah’s spiritual journey is in many ways a reflection of my own. As I was doing deep dives into metaphysical teachings, she was discovering them in the story. It is my hope that Hannah’s journey will resonate with women readers everywhere. She struggles with grief, depression, anxiety, and self-doubt, but the more she connects with her inner wisdom, the more confidence, knowing, and courage she gains.

Your books blend mystery, magick, dreams, and spiritual inheritance. How do you ensure these diverse elements harmonize effectively within your narrative?

I have always loved mysteries, because they invite the reader to actively participate. Magick, ancestral legacies, and dreams united in the stories in a way that was nothing short of a mystical alignment. Books really do have a life of their own. When the readers are ready to receive their messages, the books are called to be written.

Given the intricate themes of time travel, astronomy, and alchemy in Book 3, what kind of research did you undertake to weave these elements into the story?

I studied astronomy at the academic level and have always been fascinated by the concept of time travel. In Book 3, as Hannah’s journey evolves, so too does her understanding of more complex concepts inspired by quantum physics, alchemy, and psychokinesis. As part of research for my metaphysical degrees, I have investigated a large variety of occult, supernatural, and otherwordly teachings, and many of them were incorporated into the books.

“The Dream Haunters” won the 2024 International Firebird Book Award. How has this recognition impacted your writing journey and your connection with readers?

It was immensely rewarding to have my debut fiction novel be awarded an International Firebird Book Award. The positive reception and bestseller ranking it achieved spurred me on to expand my reach. In 2025, I presented at the 42nd Annual International Dream Conference hosted by the International Association for the Study of Dreams on Dreams as Sacred Portals: Unlocking the Path to Spiritual Awakening. This opportunity allowed me to connect directly with readers who were intrigued by dreamwork.

Beyond the “Witches of Maple Hollow” trilogy, do you have plans to explore other metaphysical mysteries or dream-related themes in your future writing?

As part of my PhD thesis in Metaphysical Sciences, I have begun writing what will become the foundation for my first non-fiction book about dreams and spiritual awakening. In the future, I will likely return to fiction as well, since I have several ideas brewing. But no matter what genre I’m writing, metaphysical concepts will definitely play a part.

What is one piece of advice you would offer to aspiring authors who are looking to write in the metaphysical or spiritual fiction genre?

If you are feeling called to deliver a message out into the world, know that you are given both a gift and a responsibility. The visionary nature of metaphysical stories uplift readers—giving hope, solace, and guidance through the storytelling. Channel your authentic self into your books and your resonating readers will find you.
